This clipping is from a Michigan State University (MSU) bulletin. Pono read it in 2007 and was reminded that this was the very first computer he was privileged to program. He took the entire set of computer programming classes offered by MSU in 1961-62 - one class called "Introduction to Computer Programming". After revealing this to his kids, they identified their first computers (see below). Pono says "You call THAT a computer?"

By the way, the Michigan State Integral Computer (MISTIC) was limited, but it actually had 1,024 40-bit words of memory (5 KB in today's terms).

JR confessed to cutting his teeth on this model of Compaq (left), while Stuart first used this Mac PowerBook 540 (right). Size went from a ton for MISTIC to a few pounds for the Mac, while speed and capacity went similarly in the other direction! Here are the figures.
| Cycle Speed | RAM | Weight | |
| MISTIC | 10 KHz | 5 KB | 2000# |
| Compaq | 4.77 MHz | 128-640 KB | 28# |
| PowerBook | 33 MHz | 4-36 MB | 7.1# |
